Jewel Bearing
Jewel bearings use high-hardness (Al2O3) crystal material in place of conventional metal contact surfaces. They deliver low starting torque, low wear, and long service life under light loads and high speeds, and are widely used in precision instruments, micromotors, flow meters, and timing mechanisms.
Technical data
| Outside diameter: | 0.80–25.00 mm | Height: | 0.30–25.00 mm |
| Hole diameter: | 0.10–2.00 mm | Dry friction coefficient of steel: | 0.14 |
Features & Benefits
Low Friction Coefficient
A dry friction coefficient of 0.14 against steel improves instrument sensitivity and response speed.
High Wear Resistance and Long Life
The jewel material offers high hardness and maintains its low-friction characteristics even after long-term use.
Good Dimensional Stability
The low thermal expansion coefficient of the single-crystal material helps maintain hole-shaft fit accuracy under temperature fluctuations, reducing temperature drift errors.
Low Starting Torque
Both static and dynamic friction are low, enabling sensitive instrument startup and making it ideal for small signal measurements.
Stable Chemical Properties
The jewel material is corrosion-resistant and can operate stably in various environments.
